Hot or Cold - Libations for the liberated!

I make sure that I select soothing and healthy options before I fly.

My top picks at the airport are:

  • Bowls of hot chocolate and you can add marshmallows for an even creamier texture. Hot chocolate is the universal winter drink, whether you are flying to or from the winter season, a big portion of hot chocolate will soothe and relax you.
  • Fresh fruit juices: apple, carrot and orange juice is my go-to combination.  Choose which fresh fruits you like the most and top up on your nutrients before the flight.
  • Coffee: I’m susceptible to an espresso to give me a quick energy boost and I love having so many coffee choices at airports. Whether you prefer your coffee with more milk or prefer it black, coffee is universally considered the drink you have while you are waiting.

To beat the summer heat head to Caffe Ritazza for one of their notable mock-tails which are incredible dessert non-alcoholic drinks. I like the summer fruits Mojito - fruit puree, mint and lime juice. Another delicious sounding mock-tail and on my ‘must taste’ list is the Tropical Sunrise, a combination of mango and apple fruit smoothie, grenadine syrup and lime juice.

Besides the double chocolate (how good does that sound?) and Cafe Latte frappes, Caffe Ritazza also offer raspberry and banoffee milk crushes and the ever popular mango lassi with a few unique drinks you can’t get anywhere else like the banofee (banana and toffee) milk crush.

I always enjoy a glass of red from Italy, France or the Spanish border. I once read that these regions produce wine that is healthier. Red wine is perfect for any season and it’s a great drink choice when you’re celebrating a job promotion, time off work or that dream trip you’ve saved up for.

What better way to leave an airport, full of antioxidants and nutrients with a boost of energy by having a hot or cold beverage in preparation for a flight.

What kind of beverage do you make a bee line for at the airport?

We’ve got Football Fever.

A serious case of it.

The Rugby World Cup is just around the corner and after the Wallabies redeemed themselves with a convincing win over South Africa’s Springboks over the weekend we’re feeling confident (Hush now! These B-team utterances about the ‘Boks need not be brought up here!).

It’s not long before we’ll be donning the green and gold jerseys and heading to Sydney International Airport with a ticket to New Zealand in hand and when we get there we’ll be stopping off at the Danks Street Depot cafe (which is just before security at T1) to let it be known to Jared Ingersoll that Australia is the greatest rugby playing nation on earth…contrary to what he claims in this little video!!

Aussie, Aussie, Aussie….Oi, Oi, Oi!
